how to clean microwave oven


Before cleaning, make sure the microwave oven is unplugged and cool. Always follow the cleaning instructions in user manual.

Cleaning the Microwave oven cavity ( cavity - the place where you keep the food items ):
  1. Using mild, nonabrasive soaps and detergents:
    Fill a microwave-safe bowl with 1 cup (250 ml) of water and add an ample amount of nonabrasive soap or detergent and place it in the microwave. heat up for 2 to 5 minutes  or until it begins to steam. Steam will soften food soils. Unplug the oven, let it cool for 10 minutes. Open the door and remove the bowl. Dampen a sponge and wipe away inside area. Finally dry with soft, lint-free cloth.
  2. Using  lemon juice or vinegar:
    Fill a microwave-safe bowl with  1 cup (250 ml) of water with 1 tbs (15 ml) of either lemon juice or vinegar  and place it in the microwave. Turn the machine on for 2 to 5 minutes or until the solution boils and the window is steamy. Unplug the oven, let it cool for 10 minutes. Open the door and remove the bowl. Wipe inside area with a wet soft cloth or sponge and dry with soft, lint-free cloth.

To avoid damage to the microwave oven cavity, do not use soap-filled scouring pads, abrasive cleaners, steel-wool pads, gritty washcloths or some recycled paper towels

Cleaning the door (both interior and exterior):
Wipe the doors with a soapy wet sponge or soft cloth. Use only mild, non-abrasive soaps or detergents. Clean the area where the microwave oven door and frame touch when closed.

Cleaning the control panel:
Wipe panel with a wet soft cloth and dry immediately with soft cloth. Do not spray any solution directly onto the controls. To avoid damage to the control panel, do not use chemical or abrasive cleansers.

Clean the accessories:
Clean the accessories in the usual way in soapy water.

As a final touch, clean the exterior of the microwave. Plug the microwave back in and it is ready to do use. However, wiping down your appliance every couple of days, depending on how often you use it.
